Sparking With All Knobs Off
Nothing on a Wolf range should spark with every knob at Off. Work through Wolf's own checks: press each knob in and release it, in case one has stuck, then switch the breaker off for 30 seconds. If the sparking outlasts both, Wolf points to the outlet's wiring and polarity, which is an electrician's check. Wolf Repair Kirkland, (425) 699-2400, rules the range in or out first.

Normal
- Never, with every knob at Off. Clicks at a burner that is lit are a different state: the electrode relighting a disturbed flame.
Fault
- Steady clicking at one electrode or several while every knob points to Off.
- Sparking that ends only when the breaker goes off and returns with the power.
- Sparking that began after a spill, a boil-over or a thorough clean of the cooktop.
What to check first
With the burners cold, push each knob in and let go; each one should rise back out on its own. If the cooktop was recently cleaned or something boiled over, give the burners time to dry — Wolf suggests a hairdryer on a low setting to speed it up. Then switch the breaker off, count 30 seconds, and switch it on again. Sparking that survives all three is past what an owner should chase.
What we usually find in Juanita
Kitchens above Juanita Bay are often compact remodels where the range is used hard and wiped down just as hard. Most often one knob has not come fully back out after a press. Often water from cleaning has found its way to a switch, and the sparking fades as it dries. Sometimes the outlet behind the range is the cause. If the sparking will not stop, that is a sensible way to hold it, and Wolf lists the breaker as a reset step anyway. Nothing on the range will spark or run electrically until power returns, so plan meals around that.
